The coach of the Spanish national team, Vicente Del Bosque, and the football players did not hesitate to criticize the turf of the Gdansk stadium after the draw with Italy.

The European champions had to equalize the score, as the Italians took the lead after a precise shot by Antonio Di Natale. Cesc Fabregas secured a point for the Spaniards.

"It's sad that we still have to play on such a level of pitch," said the coach, adding that it created difficulties for both teams.

"The team worked hard - I am satisfied with the effort. We are partly satisfied with the result. Why did we play without nominal strikers? We wanted to dominate the midfield and control the ball. At times, it worked," he said.

Coach was seconded by Andres Iniesta: "Seeing a field in such condition is a tragedy. It was extremely wet, so the ball rolled heavily."

Fabregas quoted his teammates: "I can't complain, but we were worthy of much more. It's a pity that we still have to play on pitches of such level."
