Hosts of the European Football Championship continue to be without victories. On Tuesday evening, the Polish national team played a 1-1 draw with the Russian team in Group A.
The match at the Warsaw Stadium began with attacks from F. Smuda's players.
In the 6th minute, R. Murawski dangerously passed the ball into the Russian penalty area, causing confusion, but the visitors managed to defend.
In the 10th minute, R. Lewandowski took a strong shot from a distance, but missed the goal.
Soon after, the Russians launched a dangerous attack and A. Kerzhakov fell in the penalty area, but the referee did not respond to calls for a penalty kick.
In the 17th minute, the Poles scored a goal, but it was ruled offside.
As the first half neared its end, the visitors' attack ended with a goal – A. Arshavin passed the ball into the penalty area and A. Dzagoev scored the third goal of the competition with his head.
J. Blaszczykowski tried to respond with a lightning attack, but V. Malafeev once again reliably guarded the goal.
After the break, the Russians could have decided the fate of the match, but in a quick attack, A. Arshavin lacked accuracy in passing the ball.
The Polish response was perfect – in a counterattack, J. Blaszczykowski struck the ball into the top corner of the goal from the penalty area and leveled the score.
Both teams tried to secure a victory, but their efforts were in vain and the fate of the teams will be decided in the final round.
