Former assistant of Josep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, is likely to sign a two-year contract with "Barcelona" and officially become the head coach of the Catalan club this week, as reported by the newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo".
The 42-year-old specialist was immediately announced as Guardiola's successor, after the strategist announced his resignation from his duties in April after leading the team for four seasons.
Two months have passed, but T. Vilanova still cannot officially be called the head coach of "Barcelona" because he does not have a valid contract with the Catalan club.
According to the newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo", "Barca" immediately offered T. Vilanova a two-year contract and did not even consider offering a one-year contract - a formula that Guardiola particularly liked. It is reported that the former assistant of Guardiola accepted the offer, and his agent Jose Maria Orobitgas representing his interests is expected to finalize the formalities with "Barcelona" in the near future.
If the final stage of negotiations does not drag on, the signatures on the new contract of T. Vilanova should be put this week, and on Friday, the coach can be officially presented to the media representatives.
