After a seven-year break, the official matches of the Lithuanian national football team will take place in the country's capital.

On September 7 in Vilnius, at the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) stadium, Lithuanians will play the first 2014 World Cup qualification matches against the Slovakian team.

The national football team has not played official matches in the capital since 2005.

Season tickets for the national team's home matches in the World Cup qualifiers will be distributed from June 18 to August 15 on the "BILIETAI LT" system, and tickets can be purchased from August 15 onwards.

In the 2014 World Cup European zone Group G, Lithuanians will face the teams of Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, and Liechtenstein.

After the first match against Slovakia, Lithuanian footballers will travel to Greece, where they will meet the national team on September 11. The qualification matches will finish in October 2013. The winners of the groups and the best second-placed team from the nine groups will advance to the final stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The other eight second-placed teams will play additional matches.
