On Thursday evening in the C group matches, the first team was determined to have lost all theoretical hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the European Championship.
This team was the national team of Ireland, who were crushed 4-0 by the European and World champions Spain, which featured Fernando Torres and David Silva.
All throughout the game, Vicente del Bosque's players clearly dominated and took the lead right at the beginning of the match - already in the 4th minute, taking advantage of lax defending, Torres sent the ball into the net guarded by Shay Given.
In the first half, Spain had numerous chances to double their lead, but they only managed to do so after the break when, in the 49th minute, City's playmaker Silva outmaneuvered three Irish defenders.
In the 70th minute, Torres scored his second goal of Euro 2012 by outrunning the goalkeeper, and the final point was put in by Fabregas, who came on as a substitute.
It is worth noting that Silva provided assists for the last two goals.
In group C, Spain and Croatia have both collected four points and will address their relationship on Tuesday, while Italy, with two points, will need to win and hope for a favorable result in their main rivals' match to advance to the knockout stages.
