UEFA Champions League saw two quarterfinal matches take place on Tuesday. In the first match, "Liverpool" managed to secure a slight advantage by defeating "Juventus" at home, while "Lyon" and "PSV" played to a draw, so the winners of the ties will only be decided in the second leg.

"Liverpool", backed by a roaring crowd at "Anfield" stadium, began the match more actively and took the lead in the 10th minute when S. Hyypia sent a corner kick into the goal.

Inspired by the goal, the hosts continued to play successfully and doubled their lead with a great goal in the 25th minute - A. L. Tallecas passed to L. Garcia, who struck a superb shot from the penalty area to beat the opponent's goalkeeper G. Buffon.

However, the "Juventus" players did not give up and were close to scoring a goal just a minute later, but Z. Ibrahimovic's shot hit the crossbar. The visitors continued to fight and A. Del Piero had a good opportunity after half an hour, but goalkeeper S. Carson pushed away his attempt.

In the second half, a recovered "Juve" gradually found their rhythm and started to control the game. The visitors' efforts paid off in the 63rd minute when a mistake by S. Carson allowed Italian defender F. Cannavaro to head the ball into the net.

For the rest of the match, both teams seemed content with the result and did not create many dangerous chances. "Liverpool" claimed victory with a narrow margin, but "Juve" scored an important away goal and will have hope for a comeback at home.

In the other match, the hosts also scored the first goal - in the 12th minute, after a pass from S. Wiltord, F. Malouda sent the ball into the net from close range. The hosts continued to seek another goal in the first half, but their dangerous attacks ended with shots off target.

After the break, the situation on the field remained the same, and the French champions continued to have the initiative and attack the opponents' goal, with J. Vennegoor of Hesselink's headers being the most dangerous in the guest team.

In the 71st minute, "PSV" coach G. Hiddink sent D. Beasley on for Farfan, and the Dutch team started to play more actively. Two minutes later, P. Cocu fired a shot wide, but it was just a warning to the French, as in the 79th minute, the same P. Cocu received a pass from J.S. Park and placed the ball into the corner of the net.

Eindhoven's club secured a draw and now has the advantage of an away goal, meaning that "Lyon" will need to score in the return leg, which will take place in a week in the Netherlands.
