Brazilian national team goalkeeper Juninho is leaving the club. The club has confirmed that they have reached an agreement to cancel the footballer's contract, so he is now a free agent.
The 32-year-old player arrived in Scotland just seven months ago from another team, but in 14 matches he only managed to score once and did not demonstrate the level of play that all the Scottish club managers and fans had hoped for. The likely next club for the player will probably be the Brazilian team "Palmeiras," with whom Juninho is currently negotiating.
"Celtic" club can confirm that Juninho has been released from the contract with the team," says a statement from the Scottish champions. "Everyone in the club wishes him all the best in the future." The Brazilian player himself also did not hide his desire to leave.
"I'm disappointed, but I told him that I will not keep him as a prisoner," said team coach Martin O'Neill. "A week or two ago, he came to me and informed me that he had the opportunity to go to Brazil. Since he had the chance to leave, he asked to be released from the remaining contract term, and I had no problem with that. Of course, I am disappointed by this."
