Yesterday, the World Football Association (FIFA) officially announced signing a support agreement with one of the most well-known corporations in the world "Sony".
The contract worth 305 million dollars (818 million litas) will come into effect in 2007 and end in 2014. Over the seven years, "Sony" will have exclusive rights to support FIFA-organized championships, including the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 World Cup in a yet unknown country.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter was very pleased with the signed agreement: "We are delighted that a company like "Sony" has chosen FIFA and football for such a valuable sponsorship deal".
"Sony", which has joined other "FIFA partners" such as German sports goods conglomerate "Adidas" and automobile manufacturer "Hyundai", will also advise FIFA on broadcasting equipment and multimedia aspects.
