Attacker Mark Viduka will no longer appear on the field this season due to a recurring muscle injury in his leg.
"Mark has suffered a recurring muscle injury," Middlesbrough coach Steve McLaren officially stated on the club's website on Wednesday. "This is sad news for the club and for Mark, as he will no longer appear on the field this season."
The Australian returned to the field last Saturday in the match against Crystal Palace after a four-month break, but his return lasted only eleven minutes - the player felt pain in his muscle again and had to be substituted.
29-year-old M. Viduka moved to Middlesbrough last summer for 4.5 million pounds from the financially struggling Leeds United. In fifteen matches this season, the Australian scored five goals.
