Victory promised to Italy in the quarterfinals on Sunday © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, the quarter-final of the European Football Championship will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv. Football giants England and Italy will face off. We review the perspectives of the future opponents and present the odds set by the bookmakers at "TonyBet".

England - 2.90; Draw - 3.00; Italy - 2.70

England has never played in the final of the European Football Championship. Meanwhile, Italy has played in the final twice - in 1968 the final was golden, and in 2000 they had to acknowledge the superiority of the French in the final.

Before the start of the championship, the English national team was flooded with a wave of criticism: the wrong players were chosen, the coach was bad, and so on, however, the football creators forced some critics to shut up after a successful passage through the group stage barrier. The first match was against France and the hard-fought draw promised nothing bad. This was followed by a real thriller with the Sweden team - after a tough and unpredictable battle, victory was achieved. Finally, the tournament host Ukraine stormed the English goal, but after withstanding the opponent's attack, the "three lions" scored a goal and took first place in the group.

In recent years, Italy has not been experiencing the best times in football - they finished last in their group at the 2010 World Cup, but during the qualification tournament for the European championship, they demonstrated excellent defense and only conceded two goals in their own net in ten matches - giving hope to their fans. The group stage was not easy, already in the first match they had to face the World and European champions Spain, but the draw was certainly satisfying for this team. Later, they failed to maintain the lead and lost two points against the Croatian team. Finally, they managed to overcome Ireland's resistance and extend their performance in this championship.

Both teams are used to having only the highest goals set for them, but this year, instead of receiving immense pressure - their opponents were sent off with lowered heads to their own funeral. Such - unpretentious funerals bore fruit. Both Italy and England are eager to prove their worth and are preparing to fight for a place in the semifinals until the very end.
