Legendary Dino Zoff insists that Italy is capable of beating Germany in the semi-finals of the European Championship.
The 70-year-old Italian won the competition of the Old Continent in 1968, and in 1982 captained the national team to a 3-1 victory over West Germany in the final of the World Cup.
"Italy has a great opportunity to reach the final," Zoff said. "Germany will have to be careful. This Italian team is strong and creative. They can cause problems for anyone, as they showed in the match against England.
"Of course, Germany is well-balanced and practically has no weak spots. I am impressed by Mario Gomez - he is an excellent footballer. The only exception was Germany's match against Portugal. The pressure from the opponents was unusually high and caused problems."
Zoff, who played as a goalkeeper, praised Gianluigi Buffon: "Buffon is a goalkeeper and captain, his experience determined the penalty shootout. Those are the moments when the whole team depends on the goalkeeper. Buffon knows very well what it means to take responsibility."
