Breaking the goal drought: C. Elliot helped by his brother's advice © EuroFootball.com

Vilnius "Žalgiris" football club striker Calum Elliot managed to break his long goal drought with the help of his older brother's advice. On Monday in the 18th round of the Lithuanian A League, the Scottish legionnaire sent the ball into the Alytus "Dainava" goal, ending a seven-match goalless streak.

"I am happy to have scored a long-awaited goal. The last month has been very difficult for me both psychologically and physically, but I never lost confidence in myself. I knew that setbacks are only temporary," said C. Elliot. "My family, especially my older brother Ross, always motivates me with very good advice and inspiring words."

"My game was affected by a recent injury. I couldn't maintain the same level of fitness as at the beginning of the season, but the medical team managed to get me back on my feet. Now I feel much better. I hope that the setbacks are now in the past, and from now on, my game will only improve," hopes one of the most productive players in the A League. "We don't have many strikers, so I understand very well that I have to meet the expectations of the coach, team mates, and fans. From the very beginning of my arrival in Lithuania, I have felt pressure to perform well in matches. I really like it."

The 25-year-old player from Žalgiris has scored 13 goals and made 3 assists this season.
