Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio assures that the Italian national team knows how to defeat Spain in the final of the European Championship.
These two teams have already met in the group stage - back then the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
"Spain is a particularly strong team," said the footballer to Goal.com. "But we have already played against them and we know how to beat them. I don't want to go into details, because you will see everything on the field."
For many, the successful Italian game became a surprise of the tournament, but according to Marchisio, the unspectacular results in the preparation cycle served as an additional motivator.
"I think no one expected such a game from us. Before the tournament, we were heavily criticized, especially after losing a friendly match to Russia. Even during the championship, there were disappointed draws with Croatia," he said. "But we just wanted people to believe in us. The truth is, that pressure united the team and turned criticism into praise."
