The Vilnius City Municipality Council has decided to acquire a fourth category UEFA football stadium. With a top category modern football stadium, Vilnius will have the opportunity to host Lithuania's national football matches, provide facilities for the capital's football teams' training sessions. After discussions in the committees, it was decided that the stadium should accommodate at least 10,000 spectators. It is expected that the stadium could be built in just 2 years.

Currently, the city does not have a stadium that meets the UEFA category IV standards and cannot host national football matches. Important fixtures of the Lithuanian national team and top-level football clubs will take place at this stadium. Athletes will have optimal conditions for training, while fans will be able to watch matches at a modern stadium. Acquiring the stadium will create new jobs, generate taxes, and bring income to the city budget," says Deputy Mayor of Vilnius Jaroslav Kaminski.

Through a competitive dialogue, a football stadium meeting the standards of the fourth category of UEFA would be acquired. It is envisaged that the price per seat in the stadium should not exceed 2500 euros, and the repayment term for the stadium is 10 years or more. The purchasing procedures are planned to start as early as this fall.

According to the requirements of the UEFA fourth category, the stadium must accommodate at least 10,000 spectators, have 500 separate places for important guests. The stadium must also have 75 workplaces for journalists, a press conference room with 75 seats, 25 commentator places, 2 television studios, 25 places for photographers, and 4 camera booths. The football field dimensions should be 105 m long and 68 m wide.

The new capital stadium would be dedicated to football, and the stadium infrastructure could also be used by the city's cultural and entertainment event organizers.
