London strategist Roberto Di Matteo insisted he doesn't feel overshadowed by Pep Guardiola or other famous coaches.
Having temporarily taken over the wheel of an English team in the middle of last season, the Italian won the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. However, after the season, rumors were silenced that club owner Roman Abramovich preferred Guardiola before signing a long-term contract.
Nevertheless, Di Matteo told journalists: "I don't feel any shadow above me or behind my back. Rumors about other coaches circulated from the very first day of my work, so I quickly got used to it. Everyone can say what they want - I just focus on my work and try to do it as best as possible.
"I have been working in football for many years and I understand the current business principles very well. I realize that a coach's work is judged by results - I am not an exception." Chelsea always aims for victories, so last season was not easy, although it ended fantastically. I am satisfied with the contract I signed and understand that the club needed time to make such a decision."
