Leverkusen signed a five-year contract with Universidad de Chile striker Junior Fernandes. The German team paid 3 million euros for the football player.
The 23-year-old Fernandes will replace Eren Derdiyok in Bayer's ranks, who moved to play for 1899 Hoffenheim.
"Junior has all the qualities necessary for a modern attacking player," said Bayer manager Rudi Voller. "He is technical, physically well-built. In addition, he is fast and able to take advantage of opportunities."
In the Chilean championship, the forward scored eight goals in 17 matches.
