The new Tottenham strategist Andre Villas-Boas acknowledges that Luka Modric will most likely leave the team this summer.
Portugal is already eyeing his compatriot "Porto" midfielder Joao Moutinho as a replacement for the Croatian.
"The attention that he receives from many clubs shows how much he has achieved here," Villas-Boas said about Modric. "We will continue negotiations with them until we reach a suitable agreement for all parties."
The strategist praised Moutinho: "He was one of the most important players in the European Championship. Of course, Joao is not the only candidate, but certainly one of those we are closely monitoring."
And added: "Emmanuel Adebayor is another player who played an important role last season, and we would be lying if we said we are not looking for a striker. Adebayor is among the candidates."
