Former FIFA president Joao Havelange and executive committee member Ricardo Teixeira took bribes, according to an investigation by the Swiss Supreme Court.
Documents released to the public reveal that Havelange received at least 1.5 million Swiss francs (4.3 million Litas), while Teixeira received a staggering 12.74 million Swiss francs (36.6 million Litas) in bribes from the now defunct marketing company ISL.
96-year-old Havelange served as FIFA president from 1974 to 1998 and currently holds the title of honorary president of the organization. In addition, until last December, he had been a member of the International Olympic Committee for almost half a century. Meanwhile, 65-year-old Teixeira left the FIFA executive committee at the beginning of this year.
It is believed that other high-ranking FIFA officials also took bribes, but it has been denied that the current president Sepp Blatter is among them.
