Long-time "Tottenham Hotspur" captain Ledley King announced his retirement from football.
The footballer, who played 266 matches in the Premier League, demonstrated remarkable dedication to the club for his entire career, even though "Spurs" decided not to renew the contract with the injury-prone 31-year-old center-back this summer.
"I have been part of this club since childhood, so I could never imagine myself defending the colors of another club," he said. "I know that such players are rare nowadays, but I enjoyed it."
The player's decision was influenced by injuries (Empics photo).
"I would like to thank all the club staff and fans who have always supported me, despite my injuries and missed matches. It was precisely various injuries that led me to the end of my career."
It is reported that King will now serve as an ambassador for "Tottenham Hotspur" club.
