Vilnius "Reo" club has decided to withdraw from the A League championship organized by the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF). Accusing the LFF of corruption, the "Reo" club has decided not to participate in any tournament where the country's football leadership is involved in organizing.

"We do not want to be hostages of criminal buildings in an organization where decisions are made not based on regulations, but in secret, 'behind closed doors,'" reads a statement distributed to the media.

Here is the unedited press release from the "Reo" club:

"We do not want to be hostages of criminal buildings in an organization where decisions are made not based on regulations, but in secret, 'behind closed doors.'

The Lithuanian Football Federation with an unmotivated and unilateral decision secretly took away the right of 'Reo' to participate in the UEFA Regions Cup, which the club won last year by winning the Lithuanian Football Federation's I League competition. We only learned about this dishonest act, as well as the refusal to register new 'Reo' players just 2 days before the match, verbally, because the federation refuses to inform and justify its decisions in writing. This behavior, typical of gangs, is not something we are willing to tolerate.

'Reo' has no debts to players or service providers, except for a disputed debt to the LFF, which arose when the federation took away the possibility for 'Reo' to host the UEFA Regions Cup in Lithuania.

"We want to thank the FK 'Reo' players and fans for their understanding and support. In the 6 years of the club's existence, we have gone from the III to the A League, achieving everything on the football field. Therefore, we are not willing to become hostages of dirty criminal games. As long as the Lithuanian Football Federation continues to operate using such methods, neither the club nor the club's supporters will participate in Lithuanian football life," says the statement from "Reo."
