Nightmare against "Vojvodina" started already in the 4th minute, and the new "Sūduva" coach Darius Gvildys could only shrug his shoulders - the residents of Marijampolė lacked sharpness up front and made mistakes in defense. "Sūduva's" journey in the Europa League ended in the second round. The final score - 1:5.
After the match, Gvildys struggled to find words.
"When you quickly concede two goals in childish situations, it is hard to expect a positive result. We tried to wait for our chance, but we didn't have any," he admitted.
Asked why his players, who managed to instill fear in opponents in Serbia, looked completely disoriented at home, D. Gvildys replied: "In the first match, the Serbs expected an easy victory, so we managed to surprise them. This time, from the very beginning, we knew that they would be completely different."
One of the leaders of "Sūduva," Rafael Ledesma, did not hide his disappointment: "We had everything in our hands, it would have been enough to even finish 0:0, but we couldn't take advantage of that. We played very poorly."
