The Madrid "Real" team is having trouble coming to an agreement with the London "Tottenham" team for the transfer of midfielder Luka Modrić and the Spanish champions have found a backup option.
Jose Mourinho's coached team is one step away from acquiring Axel Witsel, a midfielder from Lisbon's "Benfica" - both teams have already agreed on a transfer fee of around 40 million euros.
If the deal for L.Modrić falls through, the 23-year-old Belgian will most likely play for the "Real" team next season.
It is worth mentioning that a couple of years ago, the Madrid team acquired Argentine Angel Di Maria from "Benfica" for 33 million euros.
