On Saturday, the quarter-final matches of the London Olympic football tournament were played.

The host team suffered a bitter defeat, losing to South Korea 4-5 after a penalty shootout. The main and extra time ended 1-1.

The tournament favorites Brazil forced Honduras to surrender 3-2, although the latter had taken the lead twice. The winners were also helped by the referee, who sent off two Hondurans from the field.

Japan crushed Egypt 3-0, while Mexico defeated Senegal 4-2 after extra time.

In the tournament semifinals, South Korea will face Brazil and Japan will face Mexico.
