Defender Eric Abidal, who underwent a liver transplant operation in April, hopes to return to play again by December, according to the Spanish media and the agency "Reuters."
"I feel better than three months ago and strictly adhere to the treatment program prescribed by the doctors," the Frenchman told the Spanish television channel "TV3" after Barcelona's match against PSG.
"I have already started training little by little in the gym and I feel good. The operation was very difficult, so I cannot rush. I will continue with the exercises and hope that by the beginning of December I can return to the field. If no problems arise, I will achieve my goal. That would be great," hoped Abidal, celebrating his 33rd birthday in September.
In his homeland, where Barcelona played a friendly match against the Paris team, the Frenchman was warmly welcomed. The defender of the Catalan team started the match with a symbolic kick-off, and later, in the 22nd minute, the audience gave huge ovations in honor of Abidal.
