At the UEFA headquarters in Switzerland, in the city of Nyon, the draw for the 2005 Intertoto Cup took place. 61 teams from the Old Continent will start their battle for three tickets to the UEFA Cup tournament, including Vilnius' "Žalgiris", on June 18-19.
Just like last season, in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup, "Žalgiris" will face a team from Northern Ireland. Currently, the surprise of the season club called "Limavady" holds the fourth place in the country's championship, which allows them to participate in the Intertoto Cup. However, with three rounds left until the end of the championship, there are three teams right behind them.
If "Žalgiris" manage to surpass the first round barrier, in the second round they would face Daugavpils' "Dinaburg" (Latvia) and the representative of Wales - most likely "Bangor City". If they were to defeat one of these opponents, in the third round they would face a club from Greece.
