Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

Previously, the Uruguayan's contract was supposed to last another four years, but according to the new agreement, his salary will triple - up to 126 thousand euros per week.

"Several teams were interested in him, so we are happy that Luis has tied his future with Liverpool. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with this world-class football player," said coach Brendan Rodgers.

Suarez himself, who was tempted by Juventus in Turin, added: "I am very happy in this team and city. As a child, everyone dreams of wearing Liverpool's shirt, and I was lucky enough to achieve this goal."

Acquired from Ajax in Amsterdam in January last year, Suarez scored 21 goals in 52 matches.
