For almost eight months - that's how long David Villa was healing a fateful thigh injury suffered during the World Club Championship semi-final match against Doha's "Al-Sadd."
During Saturday's match against Bucharest's "Dinamo" team, the forward finally took to the field and played for about 20 minutes.
After the match, the footballer did not hide his joy that he can once again play with all his strength and strive for victories with his teammates.
"I've been eagerly waiting for this moment for a long time. My rehabilitation was long and agonizing. I had to be very careful, protect myself in the first training sessions, but now everything ended happily. It feels good to be a football player again, because watching games from the sidelines was very difficult," the forward shared his impressions after the match with "Dinamo."
"Of course, I'm not in my best physical shape yet, but my goal is to become better than I was before the injury. I want to forget the past as soon as possible and only think about what's ahead," noted David Villa.
According to the footballer, what happened in the match with "Dinamo" is a huge step forward, providing much-needed strength and more confidence.
"I believe I can be even better. The support of the team's leaders and friends is also a very important factor. And I have that," the Andalusian affirmed.
