On Tuesday, in the shortlist of the UEFA Best European Player award, there are three finalists. They are the best player in the world of the year Lionel Messi, his "Barcelona" teammate Andres Iniesta, and "Real" player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Last year, the Argentinean L. Messi won the award beating C. Ronaldo and Xavi Hernandez. European sports journalists will decide who will receive the prize.
This year's award ceremony will take place on August 30 in Monaco, when the draw for the Champions League group stage will also take place.
Last season, L. Messi became the top scorer in "La Liga", scoring 50 goals, and was awarded the third Golden Ball award at the end of the season.
However, the "Barcelona" team finished second behind the "Real" team, which set a new record in the "La Liga" season with the most victories – 32, scoring the most goals (121), and achieving the best goal difference (plus 89) and became the champion for the first time in four years.
