London's "Arsenal" coach Arsene Wenger was prepared in advance for the loss of striker Robin van Persie.
A football specialist revealed that the capital club had no hope of retaining the Dutchman, so during the summer they bought two players for this position - Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
"Of course, it's regrettable to lose a player of such caliber, but after a year his contract would have expired and we had no other choice," said the Frenchman.
"Indeed, we had already acquired players to replace Robin long ago," Wenger said.
On Thursday, R. van Persie is expected to undergo a medical examination in Manchester and officially sign a contract with the team "Manchester United."
