The leaders of Munich have given the green light to the acquisition of Javi Martinez by Bilbao.
The 23-year-old footballer, who was also actively pursued by Barcelona, would cost the German team around 40 million euros. Such a sum is indicated in his contract.
"The board has given permission, so in the next few days we will find out if the deal will happen," said Bayern president Uli Hoeness.
"The coach and sports director are convinced that Martinez will solve our problems. The sporting part of the agreement has been reached, only the economic part remains. I will be happy if we shake hands."
Martinez, who can also play as a central defender, has worn the Spain national team jersey eight times.
