On Friday, Nigel De Jong, who is set to sign a contract with Milan, does not hide his joy that he will have the opportunity to play in the Italian championship.

Before the flight, the Dutchman said in an interview, "Milan's team will be competitive both in the national championship and in Europe. That's why I'm very happy."

He added, "I have already experienced what it means to play in the Manchester derby, now I will have the opportunity to play in the Milan club clash."

Since De Jong's 27-year contract with Man City was set to expire in less than 12 months, Milan paid a modest amount for him, between 3.5 and 5 million euros. This is much less than three years ago when Man City paid 18 million euros to Hamburg for him.
