"Stoke" newcomer Michael Owen regrets wearing "Man Utd" shirt last season.
The 32-year-old footballer agreed to extend his contract for another year last summer, but he spent a long time recovering from injury and played only a few matches.
"People say that I should have left earlier, but the first two years left me with great memories: I scored in the cup final, got a hattrick in the Champions League, and snatched victory against Man City," said Owen.
"The coach said he had planned an important role for me and wanted me to stay. It was great to hear that from someone like Sir Alex Ferguson. However, looking back now, I would have spent my last years better in a different club."
And he added: "I definitely don't intend to complain. It would be silly to think that at 30 or 31 I would be in the starting lineup, while Wayne Rooney and other great players sat on the bench."
