London's "Chelsea" veteran Frank Lampard believes that defending the Champions League title will be significantly harder than winning it.
On Tuesday, the English team will start their journey towards the trophy by playing against Turin's "Juventus".
"Every year it becomes more and more difficult to compete. For example, Madrid's "Real" and "Barcelona" have assembled the strongest squads of all time.
However, we will put in all efforts and now the most important thing is to win the first group match. We know it won't be easy to beat "Juventus" as this team is part of football history. They did not experience any defeats in last year's "Serie A" championship, invested a lot in new players and became a tough nut to crack," the veteran said.
The 34-year-old midfielder also recalled events from a few months ago.
"The semi-final match against "Barcelona" brought a lot of emotions. It's great to win trophies and a medal, but it's not worth getting complacent. If we did it once, why not repeat it again?"
