"Manchester United" coach Alex Ferguson hopes for a significantly better performance from his players in the upcoming Champions League season.
Last year, the "Red Devils" suffered a defeat to Basel in a crucial match and did not advance past the group stage.
"The most important thing is that defenders don't suffer injuries. I emphasize this, as this group of players has particularly struggled over the last 2-3 years," said the football specialist.
"If we manage to avoid injuries, our chances of performing better will significantly increase, as the attacking line this year has no complaints. Currently, the team is missing Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, with only three healthy central defenders left in the club - Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, and Jonny Evans."
"This year, we need to approach the matches more responsibly and I hope that will be reflected in the game against Galatasaray. I think last year we wasted points in home matches due to our complacency, as well as giving opportunities to young players. This year I will choose more experienced players," Ferguson insisted.
