Nicolas Anelka officially declared that he does not expect to represent the French national team again as long as it is led by Raymond Domenech.
Anelka has not played for his country's national team even once since rejecting then-coach Jacques Santini's call three years ago. After this decision, despite his excellent performance, the striker was never called up to the national team.
Following France's disappointing performance at the European Championship in Portugal and Domenech taking over from Santini as coach, Anelka hoped he would be invited to represent his country again, but nothing changed.
Anelka himself believes that he is not selected for the national team only due to personal reasons and would like to discuss this face to face with the team's coach.
"I do not believe I will be called up to my country's national team while Raymond Domenech is in charge - Anelka told France Football. - He does not invite me even when most of the key players are injured, so I would like to talk about this face to face."
The 29-year-old footballer believes he could be valuable to the team, as he can do what a striker should do - score goals.
"People constantly say that I should return to the national team, but I tell them that it will definitely not happen anytime soon" - continued Anelka.
"I scored goals playing in England, I scored goals representing Fenerbahce, but this does not change Domenech's opinion."
"When the national team is represented by the best players in the country - it wins. Now France is represented only by good players and you can see the results for yourself."
