UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Tallinn decided that the 2006 Champions League final will take place at the "Stade de France" stadium in Paris, and the 2007 final of the prestigious European club championship will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.

The final of this tournament has already taken place at the "Stade de France" in 2000 - where Real Madrid defeated Valencia. The Athens stadium will host the final for the first time.

Next year, the UEFA Cup final will be held at the "Philips" stadium in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and on that occasion, the stadium will even change its name. The 2007 UEFA Cup final will be played at the Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow, where the 2002 Champions League final took place.

Let's not forget that this season's Champions League final will take place on May 25th at the "Ataturk" Stadium in Istanbul, and a week before that, on May 18th, the UEFA Cup final will be hosted by the "Jose Alvalade" Stadium in Lisbon.

It was also decided at the meeting that the winners of the qualifying tournament groups and the teams that finish in second place will qualify for the 2008 European Championship. There will no longer be playoff matches.

In the qualifying matches, teams will compete in seven groups, with one group consisting of eight teams, and the others consisting of seven teams each.
