On Tuesday, at the "Aukštaitija" stadium in Panevėžys, after a quite tough match, a difficult victory was achieved against the "Šilutė" team.
The goals for Panevėžys were scored by: 32 min. - Mantas Savėnas (from penalty spot); 72 min. - Povilas Lukšys. The goal for "Šilutė" was scored by Mindaugas Bagužis (75 min).
Two yellow cards for unsportsmanlike behavior were shown to "Šilutė" player M.Žaliukas. By the decision of referee A.Kancleris, this defender was removed from the field at 86 min. Šilutė player M.Grigalevičius was cautioned for using improper language, while the "Ekranas" forward P.Lukšys was cautioned for not maintaining a distance of 9 meters.
Šilutė coach Rimas Čeliauskas stated that the team still needs to improve and also expressed joy that "Šilutė" will be playing in their own stadium after two months.
"When a team loses, coaches are rarely satisfied. Playing against "Ekranas" is not easy for Šilutė, but we are not very disappointed. Clearly, the team needs to improve. It's strange that in the last four matches, penalties have been awarded to "Šilutė". We are thinking about what this means. Last year, "Šilutė" did not concede a single penalty throughout the season...", Čeliauskas said.
Virginijus Liubšys was pleased with the fighting spirit of his players, but admitted that this match was tougher than the previous ones: "Today it was much harder to play compared to the previous two championship matches. That's what we expected. Playing three matches in a row on such a muddy field is really challenging. Both teams were hindered by the strong wind. The full-backs played quite poorly. However, I am happy with the three points we earned and the fighting spirit of the players. The men fought until the end. Today they won not by playing, but by a desire to achieve victory."
On April 23 (Saturday) at 14:00, "Ekranas" will play away against Vilnius "Vėtra."
