Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to rejuvenate the team, so he does not intend to offer veteran players in their fourth decade longer than one-year contracts.

This policy has already been implemented in the case of Champions League winner Didier Drogba. Without more favorable conditions, the African decided to move to China.

This could mean that the club will say goodbye to 31-year-old defender Ashley Cole and 34-year-old midfielder Frank Lampard next summer as they become free agents. Negotiations with other teams could start as early as January.

It is unclear what fate awaits 31-year-old John Terry. However, the current contract of the center-back is valid until the summer of 2014.

There is no doubt that if Cole decides to leave London, he could be sought by Paris St. Germain, where former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is in charge.
