Marius Žaliūkas could have become the first Lithuanian footballer to represent the legendary English club "Man Utd".
This fact about the Edinburgh "Hearts" defender was revealed to the Scottish media by his former teammate Steven Pressley. In 2006, when Žaliūkas clashed with "Hearts", Pressley was the captain of the capital's team.
"Before signing a contract with "Hearts", Žaliūkas was watched by representatives of "Man Utd" seven or eight times. So the deal was close," - said Pressley about his 28-year-old colleague. - "I think this shows what level of player he can be. I don't think there are better center-backs in Scotland at the moment."
And added: "When focused and determined, Marius is a wonderful footballer. He has proven that more than once."
