The head coach of the Lithuanian national team Csaba Laszlo was happy after the match in Liechtenstein, that earning three points will relieve the tension for the players, which was holding back the team in the first part of the match.
Comment from Cs. Laszlo:
"The first half was not good, the players felt the tension because of last year's result. However, we regrouped during the break and played well in the second half. I am happy for the team and the points collected.
In the first half, when we couldn't score, the opponents gained confidence in the last fifteen minutes, we were nervous. That's why it was very important to score a quick goal. The second goal by E. Cesnauskis was fantastic. We had a couple more chances, but the most important thing is that we scored. Every goal changes the course of the match.
It was not easy to play beautiful football on the wet field. But the most important thing is to play in a way that brings results. We did that in the second half. Defensively, we had to keep it simple and not allow the opponents to create chances. I think we succeeded in that.
Victory is the fruit of hard work. It was important for our mental state. Today we earned three points, scored two goals and didn't concede any. This sets a positive tone for the future, as the pressure should ease off the players' shoulders."
