E.Česnauskis: merits for victory should not only come to me © EuroFootball.com

The players of the Lithuanian national team admitted after the match in Liechtenstein that the first half did not go well, but they managed to make the necessary adjustments during halftime, which helped them to achieve an important victory.

Lithuanian national team defender Edgaras Česnauskis:

"This victory was very necessary for us, we wanted to avenge last year. We won, and that's the most important thing. Today I just played as I know how, and my teammates helped me. I wouldn't want to take all the credit for myself.

After the break, we realized that we needed to increase the tempo of the game and the opponents might not keep up. Then more gaps appeared in the opponents' defense and more opportunities for us to score.

We went onto the field determined, wanting to prove that we are stronger and take revenge. It all came together and we managed to win. Every victory brings positive emotions. We are preparing for the next games with even better spirits."

"We proved what we knew - that we are stronger than the opponents. Another thing - we earned important three points, which will be needed when fighting for higher places. The victory was determined by the attitude and the lessons learned from the failures of the previous qualification cycle.

The opponents were waiting for their chance in counterattacks. Last year, they scored two impressive goals from two shots. It can't always be like that. This time we scored two goals and controlled the course of the match at the end."

Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Deividas Šemberas:

"It might have looked easy from the outside, but when you're defending against eleven opponents and there are no free zones, it's difficult for us to attack. The first goal factor is very significant in such matches. It was good that we managed to score at the beginning of the second half and change the course of the game. It was enjoyable to play for us as players and for the spectators. We need to play like we did in the second half throughout the whole game.

The first half was very tough, we made mistakes in simple situations, and did many things slowly. The coach asked us to calm down during halftime, to do everything simpler and faster. And it worked.

Also, we were very seriously focused before the match because we understood that we owed it to the fans. It's also satisfying for the players to get revenge. I hope we will repeat that in Vilnius. Victories are always psychologically important, as skills grow only through victories."

Lithuanian national team captain and forward Tomas Danilevičius:

"2:0 away - a pretty good result, considering how things didn't go well here last year. We are satisfied with that. The first half was more difficult until we got used to the pitch and the opponent. In the second half, we managed to attack faster, control the ball, and achieve a result."

The opponents didn't surprise us, we expected them to play from counterattacks. They did, but in a more disorderly manner. Not only E. Česnauskis played well, but today was truly his day, and we are all happy about that."

Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Ramūnas Radavičius:

The first half didn't go well. If we had scored a goal earlier, maybe the match would have been easier. In the second half, we started to possess the ball better, scored a goal. It became much easier to play. During halftime in the locker room, we talked about how to play better, focused on playing on the wings. Some things worked, some didn't, but the most important thing is the three points. We had to win.

The first goal was very important. It always becomes easier to play then. Otherwise, it's challenging because the opponents focus in their penalty area. It's difficult for us to play against such opponents."
