Before the World Cup qualifying match in Canada, three Cuban players escaped from their national team.
As if that wasn't enough, the team was also hit by illnesses, so coach Alexander Gonzalez could only manage with 11 players and had no substitutions.
Canada won the match 3-0.
"They brought shame on all our country's athletes. It's even hard for me to talk about it," - the Cuban coach lamented after the game.
The media notes that this event is not unique - a few months ago, two female national team players escaped, and in 2008, seven members of the Olympic football team "disappeared" in the USA.
