During the second-strongest English league match between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United, there were incidents - a hooligan ran onto the field and hit goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in the face.
In the 77th minute, when Michael Tonge scored a goal into Kirkland's goalposts and equalized the score to 1-1, a Leeds supporter ran onto the field and hit the home team's goalkeeper. He needed medical assistance.
"They are animals. Leeds supporters behave similarly not for the first time, not to mention the constantly insulting chants. Chants are not made by just one or two people. I think they should be banned from supporting the team at away matches," said Sheffield Wednesday coach Dave Jones.
Kirkland finished the match, but according to the coach, he felt the effects of the blow. The incident, as well as reports of bottle throwing, are being investigated by the police.
