Glen Johnson confirmed that England's national football team players were using caffeine tablets before the scheduled match with Poland on Tuesday.
However, things turned around for the players themselves: due to heavy rain, the match was postponed to Wednesday, and many players had trouble falling asleep. Some of them had to also take sleeping pills.
"Many guys took caffeine tablets before the match, and then found out that the game was canceled. It would have been very difficult to fall asleep," Johnson said.
"Of course, the preparation for the match was not perfect, but we don't blame anyone for it. It was just a coincidence of circumstances."
