After London's Chelsea club accused referee Mark Clattenburg of insulting one of the players on racial grounds, some of the English Premier League referees intend to refuse to officiate matches of the capital team.

It is alleged that Clattenburg supposedly called John Obi Mikel "shut up, you monkey." This led to an investigation by both the police and the English Football Association (FA). However, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson has already defended him, stating that he does not believe in the validity of these accusations.

Former referee Clive Wilkes told journalists that this incident could have more consequences: "I have spoken to many colleagues who still work, and they all strongly support Mark. I know at least a few who promise to boycott Chelsea matches.

"Let's not forget that this is not the first time this club has pressured referees: there was Anders Frisk and Graham Poll. So, this is too much. I'm not exaggerating by saying that referees have never felt so low in this country - they are really disappointed and vulnerable, not receiving support."
