The team of Milan's "Inter" football players interrupted the 49-match unbeaten streak of "Juventus" in the XI round of Serie A championship.
The match, called the Italian derby, started at the "Old Lady's" stadium with a quick and controversial goal by the home team - Arturo Vidal put his team ahead in the 18th second.
There was another blatant refereeing mistake - Kwadwo Asamoah was clearly offside during the attack, but the flag indicating the violation was kept down.
Andrea Stramaccioni's players only recovered in the second half, when Diego Milito equalized from a penalty spot in the 59th minute.
Shortly after, the same Argentine put the visitors in front, and Rodrigo Palacio secured the final scoreline of 1-3 at the end of the match.
"Juventus" is still leading the tournament table, but their lead over "Inter" has shrunk to just one point.
In other matches, AC Milan did not spare Verona's Chievo in front of their own fans, winning 5-1 and temporarily moving up to the eighth position.
