The general manager of Juventus, Giuseppe Marotta, believes that referee mistakes are an inevitable part of football.
In the previous round of the Italian Serie A championship, the multiple-time Italian champions lost 3-1 to Inter Milan.
In this match, there was no shortage of controversies - a goal was allowed for Juventus from an obvious offside position and no red card was given to defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
After the game, Inter president Massimo Moratti stated that the referee's decision not to show a second yellow card to Lichtsteiner was a deliberate mistake made in favor of the "Old Lady," but Marotta disagrees.
"Losing to fierce competitors like Inter always leaves a bitter taste, but this page has already been turned," said the general manager. "Refereeing mistakes are an integral part of the game. They have been and always will be. Even top-class referees make mistakes."
"The only difference now is that we can review everything by watching video replays. The most important thing is to discard all conspiracy theories, as the mistakes made during the season balance out in your favor and against," Marotta added.
