Mancini: Almost No Hope in the Champions League © EuroFootball.com

Roberto Mancini lost hope along with the "Man City" team to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

In the match of Group D on Tuesday, the English champions played a 2-2 draw at home with Amsterdam's "Ajax". With only two points in four games, the "Man City" footballers are in last place, although they have not yet lost their theoretical chances of making it to the knockout rounds.

"Unfortunately, we only earned one point, so there are almost no hopes to continue the fight," said Mancini.

The Italian was upset with the referee's decision not to count Sergio Aguero's goal at the end of the match: "The goal should have been counted. The referee and his assistants did a poor job. After the match, I told them: congratulations, it was a goal."

He added: "We scored three goals, but we conceded two silly ones after corner kicks. We couldn't take advantage of numerous other chances. Perhaps "Borussia", "Real" and "Ajax" are better than us."

"Man City" must win the last two matches against "Borussia" and "Real", and also hope that "Borussia" defeats "Ajax" and the Dutch team does not lose to "Real".

"If we finish the group stage with 8 points, I believe we will win the Champions League. That would be our destiny," Mancini said.
