One of the outsiders of the French championship, including a Lithuanian player, announced on Monday that Frenchman Gernot Rohr is being dismissed from the position of head coach.
The main reason for such a decision by the club is the poor results demonstrated by the team. With only four games left in the French championship, "Nice" is currently in 17th place out of 20.
"G.Rohr is blamed for behavior that does not align with his duties," stated the club in a press release. "As a result, the team's results have suffered."
"Nice" has also started all actions to terminate the contract without compensation. If legal action fails, "Nice" would have to pay the coach a sum of 1.5 million euros for the termination of the contract, which still had two years remaining.
The 50-year-old G.Rohr has been in charge of "Nice" since January 2001. He will be replaced in the coaching position until the end of the season by 44-year-old amateur team coach Gerard Buscher.
It is worth noting that in a recent interview with one of the Lithuanian newspapers, Lithuanian E.Jankauskas stated that he was not very satisfied with the coach's decisions. G.Rohr would often place attacking E.Jankauskas in the striker position in the tactical scheme, which, according to the Lithuanian himself, was "somewhat unusual for him."
