"Shakhtar" Donetsk secured their place in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, but the match with "Nordsjaelland" will be remembered for another reason. The scandal was caused by Ukrainian team's forward Luiz Adriano. Although the away team, following the principles of fair play, tried to return the ball to the opponents after the medics provided assistance to an injured player, Adriano did not understand intentionally or unintentionally and scored a goal. The Danish team's players did not even try to defend, but were left astonished when the unattended forward dribbled the ball, outsmarted the goalkeeper, and scored a goal. At that time, "Shakhtar" equalized the score 1-1, and eventually celebrated a 5-2 victory. "I don't know if Shakhtar are bandits, but some players, managers, and coaches are amoral," said Nordsjaelland coach Kasper Hjulmand. "First of all, Adriano is to blame. He should have received a red card." Initially, it seemed that "Shakhtar" would allow the Danes to restore balance, but Taras Stepanenko eventually took the ball and again angered the hosts. Ukrainian coach Mircea Lucescu defended his player: "It's a pity that we scored such a goal, but the forward did it instinctively. Will I punish Luiz? If you ask such questions, it means you have never played football. It was a mistake."
